Pros and Cons of Using an Online Prenuptial Agreement

Using an online prenuptial agreement has become more common in today's society. Here are some of the pros and cons of using an online prenuptial agreement.

Pros

One of the major advantages of using an online prenuptial agreement is that it is convenient. You and your future spouse can sit down at the computer and complete the process together at your convenience. This makes it much easier than going out and finding legal representation and meeting with them.

Another advantage of this type of prenuptial agreement is that it is much less expensive. You do not have to worry about paying a lawyer $1000 or $2000 to draft the legal document for you.

This process will also save you a considerable amount of time compared to the alternative. You can sit down and come up with a prenuptial agreement relatively quickly.

Cons

One of the disadvantages of this type of prenuptial agreement is that you will not have someone that is experienced in this process guiding you. Typically, you will have legal representation to assist you with the process and make sure that you do not leave anything out. With the online process, this will not be possible.

Another disadvantage is that this type of contract may not hold up in court. Some states will require that you obtain legal representation before completing a prenuptial agreement.
